What is Equifest?
Considered as New Zealand’s newest equine event, Equifest is a three-day festival that features a wide array of activities that enthusiasts of all ages and riding levels will surely love.
When and where will the festival be held?
The fun runs from November 27th to the 29th, 2020, at the National Equestrian Centre (NEC) in Taupo.
Dubbed as the North Island’s main equestrian hub, the NEC is a huge 90-acre property that features top-of-the-line facilities and numerous arenas.
What can I expect during Equifest?
Equifest has everything you want in an equine festival and more! These three days are filled with exciting activities like:

- Shopping – shop for you and your horses in Equifest’s many booths and shopping areas. A marquee shopping area located near the arenas will also be available for your comfort and convenience.
- Nightshows – the first two nights of the festival will be filled with entertainment, classes, and competitions.
How Do I Get There?
You can use Google Maps and find your way to the National Equestrian Centre located at 114 Rapids Road, Rotokawa, Taupo. Public and disabled parking spaces are plenty in and around the area.
Where Do I Stay During The Event?
Taupo is surrounded by many lovely resort towns, inns, and camp sites. You’ll never run out of accomodation choices and will also have the chance to explore the wonderful sights Taupo has to offer.
If you wish to be closer to the action, you can also camp right at the event venue itself. NEC has some slots for public camping. Each slot costs $80 (good for 5 people) and comes with toilet and shower facilities, as well as a communal kitchen that campers can use. These non-powered camping spots are very limited, so make sure to book ahead.
Where can I buy tickets?
If you want full access to the event, you can purchase multi-day passes. Individual day or night passes are also available for people who just want to attend a certain programmes.
